Eyeko Eye Do Mascara and Eyeliner Review

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been trying to switch to cruelty free makeup for the past few months. One of the most difficult changes I've made has been mascara. My favourite mascaras until now were the Benefit They're Real mascara and Maybelline's Lash Sensational. Unfortunately both Benefit and Maybelline test on animals so I started my search for the best cruelty free mascara.

I've heard great things about the British makeup brand Eyeko. As the name suggests, they specialise in eye makeup, specifically mascara in their "iconic zero-waste squeeze tubes" and eyeliner. Endorsed by the likes of Alexa Chung, Vanity Fair and Vogue, I had high hopes for this brand.

I opted for the Alexa for Eyeko Eye Do Mascara and Eyeliner set because it was good value for money as it works out cheaper to buy the set than to buy them separately.

The liquid eyeliner is the felt tip kind which I love and find really easy to use. I know some people don't like this style of eyeliner as the tip can dry out, but I've been using the same Eyeko eyeliner for a few months now and I haven't had a problem with that. It's really black and lasts all day without cracking or fading. It's water resistant but not waterproof so if your eyes water or you end up crying it will run a little, but it's perfect for everyday use and is easier to remove at the end of the day.

Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed with the mascara. It's not a bad mascara - it doesn't clump, flake off or transfer but it's definitely not life changing. It doesn't really give my lashes any length or volume. It is nice and black though, and is long lasting without being stubborn to take off. Although I was a little disappointed by the mascara, it's good for everyday or more natural looks and I'll definitely use the rest of it up.

I really love the Eye Do eyeliner and would definitely repurchase that in the future, but next time I think I'll opt for a different mascara. I really want to try their Rock Out & Lash Out Mascara or their Black Magic Mascara.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Eyeko as a brand. Delivery was free and quick, they offer 15% off your first order and they usually send out a free travel size product with each order.

The Alexa for Eyeko Eye Do Mascara and Eyeliner set is available to order here.
